Wang Jianzhou, chairman and CEO of China Mobile phone , the world's largest mobile carrier by number of subscribers, kicked off a nine-day trip to Taiwan yesterday, reportedly to make deals with several local companies to jointly develop 3G phones in China.
China Mobile planned to launch a customized version of the china hiphone developed by High Tech Computer Corp.  (HTC), Wang said as quoted by the Chinese-language newspaper, the Economic Daily.
The OPhone is named because it runs on the mobile carrier's self-developed OMS (Open Mobile System) based on Google's open-source Android mobile iphone clone operating system. China Mobile's OMS is slated to come out soon, Wang said. Wang will meet with Cher Wang, head of HTC, to sign a cooperation contract on Aug. 24, the newspaper reported.
The Mini Cell Phones , to be based on China's TD-SCDMA (Times Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) standards, is regarded as China Mobile's answer to Apple Inc.'s widely popular iPhone.
Apple reportedly made a deal with another major Chinese carrier Unicom to launch a revamped version of the smartphone after failing to reach agreement with China cell phones , the Economic Daily said.
